Cabbagepot

This rather poetic name belongs to a fantastic basic dish that can be altered into almost anything. It was once upon a time created by a good friend's husband and has since been almost constantly changed and improved...

The base is shredded white cabbage. You fry it in a casserole dish, ideally together with chopped onion. After frying for a while you add minced meat (really doesn't matter which kind, quorn and soya works too). Fry together for 10-15 minutes, minimum and season. This is the basic recipe. Now for the fun part. What else do you have at home? What can you eat? Mushrooms, olives, garlic, spring onions, peppers, apples, grated carrot, grated other root vegetable? Do you want to make it a bit saucy by adding stock? Or wine perhaps... or cream... or everything?  Serve with boiled potatoes, on it's own or with bread if you can eat it.

Tastes fantastic all the time!
